Is there a homestead exemption in Forsyth County Georgia?

We are thinking about moving to Forsyth County Georgia. We understand the annual property taxes are less than 1% of the assessed value of the property. Is there a homestead exemption? If so, how does this affect the annual property taxes?

The State of Georgia offers a homestead exemption to owners of a primary residence. You may only claim one property as a primary residence. Forsyth County Georgia offers a general homestead exemption that reduces the assessed value of the property $8,000. If you purchase a home that is assessed at $250,000, you can anticipate an annual savings of approximately $73.
